Publish, Print, And Ship Your Book On Demand - POD

Print on demand publishing (POD) has come a long way.  You can now publish a book (or even a CD or DVD) with no up-front cost and have it printed and shipped when a copy is sold, even one copy at a time.  Amazing.  Guess I'm going to have to write a couple of those books I've been talking about writing for a couple of years!

There are a number of companies that do print on demand publishing, but Lulu is amazing because there is no up-front cost or set-up fees!  Lulu is distinguished by the following:

• They are free (except for a small royalty on each book when it is sold)
• There are no set-up fees
• There is no minimum order
• There is no risk, they print and ship each book when it is purchased
• You control the design, copyright and price

I haven't published a book with Lulu (yet!), but their process is certainly easy and the price is definitely right.  There'a a Flash-based demonstration on their web site, and it is obvious how you really could publish and order within minutes.  And I have to say that I'm impressed.

You can also make your book available as a download in pdf-format if you wish.  You can also do publishing on demand of CD's and DVD's.

Printed copies normally ship within 3-5 days of an order, since they are printed on demand.
