StormPay removed from PayDotCom.com
PayDotCom has now dropped StormPay. Previously, PayDotCom accepted payments through both PayPal and StormPay and allowed vendors to make payments to their affiliates through either PayPal or StormPay. On March 23, 2006, StormPay suddenly changed their policies to only accept payments for sales made through their auction service, apparently with little notice to anyone. This action seriously affected most people doing business through StormPay and many people doing business through PayDotCom. StormPay does not seem to have notified anyone (including, apparently, PayDotCom) except with a small news announcement on their site! PayDotCom had little choice but to remove StormPay, since StormPay's sudden policy change means that StormPay cannot be used to accept payments or make payments except for StormPay auction purchases. What does this mean to you? If you are a PayDotCom user and previously used StormPay rather than PayPal to accept payments or pay affiliates, your PayDotCom account is affected by StormPay's decision. Customers may no longer log into a StormPay account for the purpose of sending money to another online user, or "offsite" website sale. Because of this, PayDotCom has removed StormPay and all of its features and buttons from the PayDotCom website. For the time being, PayDotCom will only support PayPal users, but they have announced that they are working on developing a plug-in for Authorize.net that will be available in the near future. Once available, the Authorize.net plug-in will allow PayDotCom members to use either their PayPal account and/or a merchant account, with all being integrated with PayDotCom's affiliate and statistics systems. According to the buzz in Internet marketing forums, most Internet marketers do not expect StormPay's business to survive this sudden policy change. Certainly StormPay has not endeared themselves to many people by making this move with no apparent warning to anyone. Technorati tags: PayDotCom StormPay PayPal
