2005 Online Classified Ad Spending to Grow to $3.2 Billion

MarketingVOX quotes a report by JupiterResearch as saying that advertising sales for online local advertising in the USA will grow by 26 percent in 2005 to $3.2 billion.

The growth is due to the tremendous growth in online classified advertising sales.  Online classifieds apparently now account for about 70 percent of local advertising sales online.

Local advertising is one of the biggest growth areas for online advertising.  Not so long ago, conventional wisdom said that Internet marketing was a waste of time for local businesses that did not sell outside their local area.  This is rapidly changing.  More and more, consumers turn to the Internet to look for local businesses.  Online local advertising sales are expected to reach $5.3 billion by 2010.
