New Google Sitemaps Tool
ClickZ news is reporting that Google unveiled a new program, Google Sitemaps. Google Sitemaps could give webmasters more control over when and how Google crawls and indexes their Web pages. Webmasters will be able to create and post an XML file on their website that tells Google's spider which Web pages on the site should be indexed, when those Web pages were last updated, how often they're updated, and how important each page is relative to others on the site. Google Sitemaps won't replace Google's regular crawling activities, and Google won't guarantee all websites that submit a Sitemap or Web pages in the Sitemap will be crawled and indexed, but it is another interesting new tool that may give webmasters an edge in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for a while.
