Ever Wonder How Many Visitors Have Broadband / High-Speed Internet Service?

So it's late at night and you're chugging some coffee down while you work on the latest changes to one of your websites.  You'd love to include that huge video file, but you're wondering about the bandwidth.  You're thinking, "Surely everybody has broadband Internet by now, right?"

According to a news article on ClickZ, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) reports that 99% of the U.S. population is now able to subscribe to broadband / high-speed Internet service.

High-speed Internet connections rose to 37.9 million actual subscribers in the U.S. in 2004, according to a new FCC study.  That's a 34 percent increase in broadband Internet subscribers.  Now that's just in America, but those are some interesting numbers.
